If elected, Rachael Weber says she will hold government, whoever it is, accountable

PRINCE GEORGE — It has been an interesting election campaign, to say the least, for independent candidate Rachael Weber.

She announced her candidacy for the riding of Prince George-Mackenzie in October of 2023, as part of the Conservative Party of BC, but after she was replaced by Kiel Giddens at the beginning of September, she decided to continue her campaign, but as an Independent.

Weber has served as a school trustee with SD57, for the past four and a half years and was also board chair. She works as the education director for the McLeod Lake Indian Band. She has also been the President of the Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce. Now running as an Independent, Weber says she now has more freedom and is not tied to any political platform. One of her priorities is to “emphasize parental and family rights with the aim of improving education in B.C.”

Weber says that the Conservative Party of B.C. has lost sight of what being a true conservative is.

“I put trust behind John Rustad and I believed in him. And boy, was I duped. So it was time to take a real stance and decide whether or not I was going to run … the party changed when they decided to widen their tent and I have a problem with that. I have always been a conservative, I will stand strue on those values, those morals and those ethics.” – Rachael Weber

She says that the campaign has been “freeing” for her, noting that she has met people and gone places and spoken at different events “where I never would have been allowed to if I was a Conservative Party candidate.”

Weber believes that the Conservatives will form government on October 19th, but if elected, she says that she will hold the next government accountable and take them to task on issues that affect Prince George-Mackenzie.
