Mackenzie woman celebrates $500K lotto prize

MACKENZIE — A resident of Mackenzie has 500,000 reasons to be happy.

The BC Lottery Corporation says Marita Grattan won $500,000 after purchasing a winning Daily Grand ticket on October 17, 2024.

“I was in my living room when I found out,” recalled Grattan. “My son was with me when I checked the ticket on the BCLC Lotto! App and then I told my husband. He didn’t believe me!”

Marita plans to use some of her winnings to help her family, build a garage and complete home renovations.

She bought the ticket at the lottery kiosk inside the Mackenzie Mall and says it feels “dream-like” to win.
