PRINCE GEORGE — Sascha Vicei, a standout from the Prince George Youth Soccer Association, is staying close to home to play for the UNBC Timberwolves.

A 2023 graduate from College Heights Secondary School, Vicei is currently enrolled at UNBC and is studying Nursing. He spent the entire 2024 season training with the team.

“I thought it was a good fit for me, transitioning from the PGYSA,” Vicei said, in a statement.

“I’ve been playing with a lot of these guys since I was young and then talking with Steve [UNBC Head Coach Steve Simonson] obviously there’s a great support staff and coaching here. It’s been awesome.”

Vicei – who won the Top Striker Award during his final year of high school – joins fellow locals Xavier Rocha, Marko Furlan, and Kaiden Young on the Timberwolves. He lists creativity, dribbling, and passing as strengths, and has been training daily to get used to the rigours of university soccer.

“Sascha is a PG product who has entered the Timberwolves program as a top local prospect,” Simonson said. “He is a sound technical player who is doing a great job of adjusting to the physical demands of University soccer.”

“In a short few months with the program he has made great strides and I look forward to watching him blossom into a quality player for our program.”
