PRINCE GEORGE — The Kelowna Rockets scored a pair of goals inside the final 90 seconds to beat the Prince George Cougars 5-4 at the CN Centre Saturday night (Nov. 17).

Trailing 3-1 midway through the second, the Cougars scored three unanswered courtesy Borya Valis’ second of the game, Hunter Laing, and Koehn Ziemmer, to lead 4-3 with about three minutes left to play.

The Rockets then fired back with two quickfire markers – Michael Cicek at 18:30 and Andrew Cristall just 28 seconds later. The Washington Capitals prospect pounced on the rebound and tucked the puck in past a sprawling Joshua Ravensbergen.

Ravensbergen, the 2025 NHL Draft eligible prospect, turned aside 26 of 31 shots in a losing effort Saturday. Jari Kykkanen stopped 14 of 18 to pick up the win for Kelowna.

The loss snaps the Cougars win streak at three games, while their point streak that dated back to Oct. 25 ends at eight games. They still leads the BC Division with a 12-5-3-2 record, while the Rockets improve to 8-8-1-1.

Next up for the Cougars is a home game against the Kamloops Blazers next Friday, Nov. 22.

It’s minor sports nights at the CN Centre, with the puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
