PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars capped off a season-long six-game homestand with a 5-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers Friday night, Nov. 22.

Riley Heidt had a pair of goals and an assist, while Terik Parascak chipped in with a goal and two assists as the Cougars improved to 13-5-3-2, which has them second in the Western Conference.

Kai Matthew opened the scoring for the Blazers early in the first period at the CN Centre as his shot from the left circle found its way past Cougars goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen.

Goals from Parascak in the first as well as as Heidt and Jett Lajoie in the second had the Cougars up by a pair before Jordan Keller’s power play marker made it a 3-2 game after 40 minutes.

Heidt’s second of the night and rookie defenseman Arseni Anisimov’s first career WHL goal, extended the Cougars’ lead in the third period.

The Blazers’ Tommy Lafreniere then rounded out the scoring with a little over five minutes left to play, as Kamloops remains third in the B.C. Division with an 11-11-1 record.

A 19-save effort for Ravensbergen gave the Cougars’ netminder his 12th win of the season. The Blazers’ Dylan Ernst turned aside 26 of 31 shots in a losing effort.

The Cougars are Langley bound ahead of a Sunday afternoon game against the Vancouver Giants. Puck drop from the Langley Events Centre is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 24.
