TWolves snap four-game skid with home win over UBCO

PRINCE GEORGE — Make it two wins on the season for the UNBC Timberwolves women’s basketball team.

They beat the UBCO Heat 64-55 at Brownridge Court Friday night, to improve to 2-5 on this season. Both of the TWolves wins this season have come at home.

Viktoriia Filatova (18), Sveta Boykova (16) and Amrit Manak (15) combined for 49 points to help UNBC snap a four-game losing streak. Boykova also added a team-high 13 rebounds on the night.

The Heat came out swinging and led 22-8 after the first quarter, but it was the TWolves who controlled most of the rest of the game en route to the win.

Over in men’s basketball action, the TWolves fell 84-74 to the Heat to drop to 0-7 on the season.

Evgeni Baukin finished with a career high 30 points along with nine rebounds and four assists while Justin Sunga added 24 points, eight assists and four rebounds.

Two two teams will rematch at Brownridge Court this evening, with the women’s game scheduled for 5:00 p.m., followed by the men at 7:00 p.m..

It’s the TWolves final game before the Canada West holiday break.
