Top-ranked Vernon beats College Heights in AA football semi-final

VANCOUVER — The College Heights Cougars quest for a BC High School Football Association AA varsity championship has come to an end.

They were beaten by the top-ranked Vernon Panthers 36-14 in semi-final action at BC Place in Vancouver Saturday (Nov. 23) afternoon.

The Panthers led 22-0 at the half, and were up 30-0 before Aiden Smith got the Cougars on the board with an 11-yard rushing touchdown. Smith then completed the two-point conversion as the Cougars trailed 30-8 after the third quarter.

Quarterback Dillon Piddocke also got on the scoresheet when he rushed into the end zone with 10 seconds left to play. The Cougars though weren’t able to complete the two-point conversion this time around.

The Panthers will play the Windsor Wolves for the provincial title.
