Sixth annual Tree of Lights returns
PRINCE GEORGE – The sixth annual United Way Tree of Lights returned to the Coastal Hotel. With a fundraising goal of $40,000, United Way says it’s excited to get the annual fundraiser underway to continue supporting our community.
“We’re just so excited. Last year, the tree was able to bring the ‘School’s Out’ program to Prince George, so we’re very proud of that,” said BC United Way Campaign Manager Lorna Bihori.
The School’s Out program is an after-school program providing “healthy, safe, and educational after-school activities,” and this year United Way says it could look to supporting programs for all ages, although where exactly the money will go is not fully known yet.
“We’re always looking to fill gaps and needs in the community. Right now we’re kind attending towards perhaps a food hub to come to Prince George, because food is essential to all of our programs, and that’s for all ages and stages, from seniors right down to youth,” Bihori said.
