RED DEER, ALTA. — The Prince George Cougars began their Alberta weekend double-header with a 3-2 loss against the Red Deer Rebels Friday night (Nov. 29).

Terik Parascak and Carson Carels found the back of the net for the B.C. Division leaders at the Peavey Mart Centrium, while Joshua Ravensbergen made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Parascak opened the scoring for the Cougars past rookie Rebels goaltender Peyton Shore, who was making his WHL debut Friday night. Shore stopped 38 of 40 shots and was named first star on the night.

The Rebels scored the next three goals – a pair from Matthew Gard and one from Jaxon Fuder – to lead 3-1 with about seven minutes to play.

With their goaltender pulled, Carels brought Prince George back to within one with a power play marker in the final minute, but a Cougars comeback was not on the cards.

Instead, they’ve now dropped two games in a row to sit 13-7-3-2, which is still good for second in the Western Conference. The Rebels improve to 11-10-1-2, and sit seventh in the Eastern Conference.

The Cougars will look to bounce back tonight in Edmonton against the Oil Kings at 7:00 p.m. Alberta time.
