PRINCE GEORGE – The 31st Festival of Trees has wrapped for another year, and it’s being hailed as a success.

The Conference and Civic Centre is returning to its old self as the festival folks are packing up for another year.

The object of the fundraising this year is a piece of equipment called a StarGuide, which does diagnostic imaging and auctioning of 14 trees alone raised close to $300,000, ticket sales not included.

“Right from the time that we started loading the trucks till the time that we’re packing up, it’s just been such a community effort,” says Aimee Cassie, CEO of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. “I was saying to a couple of volunteers every year, there’s a theme that plays throughout the year. Last year it was all about celebrating 30 years and celebrating the time that people invest in Festival. And this year, it was truly a community effort to bring it to life. And I think you could just feel that from Day One.”

Organizers say, between the event itself and the additions this year, the Festival was spectacular.

“We had some significant new additions this year. I have to give a shout-out to our lead organizer for the parade, Bailey. She was incredible and really had started planning that months and months ago to make sure we could bring the Santa Claus parade back to the City of Prince George and then the Civic Light Up. I think that was something we worked really hard on with Russell AV to make sure we could do something really special for the community. And it shows, I think everyone was ready to celebrate.”
