Petition calls for safety improvements on Highway 16
PRINCE GEORGE — Over 350 people have signed a petition urging local and provincial authorities to enhance safety measures on what they call a hazardous stretch of Highway 16 between the Yellowhead Bridge and Boundary Road.
Natalie A. launched the petition and calls it one of the most dangerous roads in the area. Since moving to the area two years ago, she says she and her family have witnessed multiple accidents, some so severe it seemed impossible anyone survived.
“We have also seen dead moose and deer along the road – tragic reminders of the dangers here. Most recently, on November 28, 2024, a deer was struck and killed, and just hours later, another deer was hit in the same area. These incidents are part of a recurring and preventable problem.”
The petition highlights the road’s lack of lighting and challenging terrain, making it particularly dangerous at night and during icy conditions.
