PRINCE GEORGE—The RCMP’s Problem Oriented Policing Team and the Downtown Safety Unit seized multiple firearms as well as suspected fentanyl, meth, cocaine and hydromorphone after an arson investigation.

On November 29, Police were on patrol in the area of Victoria Street and McCullagh Avenue when they saw one of the suspects light a stolen vehicle on fire. Police pursued the alleged arsonist, John Robert Barton Craig, as he tried to flee in a waiting taxi, along with three other passengers. During the arrest, officers located a loaded firearm as well as the suspected drugs inside the taxi. Everyone arrested were known to police.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP says the arrests prompted mounties to execute two search warrants on the suspects homes on the 2600-block of Quince Street.

“Once inside, police officers located multiple firearms, including several high-powered firearms, and ammunition,” adds Cpl. Cooper. “They also located silicone molds that appear to have been used to press illicit drugs into candy-like shapes,”
