More snow expected Saturday in Prince George, Pine Pass

PRINCE GEORGE — A snowfall warning remains in place on Highway 97 north of Prince George, with as much as 15 cm of snow expected to fall.

The warning is in the area between Williston and Pine Pass, with snow expected to taper off later Saturday (Dec. 14) afternoon, according to Environment Canada.

“A frontal system has brought snow to this region,” Environment Canada said in a statement. “The snow will continue today and taper off late this afternoon.”

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”

As for in the City of Prince George, the weather agency says to expect periods of snow mixed with rain Saturday. There is the potential for 2 to 4 cm of snow to fall today, with as much as another 10 cm also expected tonight.

The forecast is also calling for wind gusts of up to 50 km/hr this evening, causing temperatures to feel like -10 C at times.

The snow is expected to taper off on Sunday morning, before returning on Tuesday night along with the cold, after a spell of sunny weather.
