PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Branch of the BC Schizophrenia Society (BCSS PG) and Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) of Northern BC are hosting their annual Holidays of Hope event on Monday, Dec. 16.

In a statement, they say a record 200 attendees – including people with lived experience of mental illness and/or substance use disorders – will gather at the Prince George Civic Centre between 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to “celebrate the season in a spirit of resilience, connection, and care.”

“This event is one of my favourite ways we can partner with our community,” said Nansi Long, Executive Director of BCSS PG.

“Many of the people we serve are here celebrating the joy of the season alongside our staff, volunteers, and community partners. It’s such a powerful reminder that we are all part of the same community.”

The two organizations say the event reflects their commitment to build a stronger, more compassionate community where people feel valued at supported during the holidays, which they note can be a difficult time for many.

“Through Holidays of Hope, we show what’s possible when we work together to foster recovery, resilience, and community care,” Elaine Laberge, Executive Director of CMHA Northern BC added.

“This is about more than just celebration – it’s about creating lasting connections and supporting one another.”
