Spruce Kings sign Swedish defenseman

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings have added a player to their roster.

They’ve signed 6’1, 180 pound defenseman Ludvig Basth (05) from Brynas IF J20 for the remainder of this season.

Basth hails from Gavle, Sweden and has played the past five seasons in the Brynas IF program for the J18 Region and Nationell, and most recently with the J20 Nationell team.

In 29 games this season, Basth has 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points. He has played 88 games for the J20 Nationell program.

General Manager Mike Hawes calls Basth “a well-rounded player who defends well, likes the physical play but who can also join the rush and initiate offense. He is a great addition to our D core.”
