PRINCE GEORGE — A former Prince George Spruce King will play for Team Canada at this year’s Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.

Layton Ahac, who was part of the Fred Page Cup and Doyle Cup winning team in 2018-19, was one of nine defencemen named to Canada’s Spenger Cup roster Friday (Dec. 20).

A third-round draft pick of the Vegas Golden Knights in 2019, Ahac is currently plying for the Abbotsford Canucks in the American Hockey League.

As a Spruce King, Ahac put up 10 goals and 60 points in 110 BCHL regular season games, along with six goals and 22 points in 41 playoff games. He was named to the BCHL All-Rookie Team in 2017–18, and the Second All-Star Team in 2018–19.
