PRINCE GEORGE —The UNBC Timberwolves have recruited a player from Vancouver Island for the 2025 season.

Striker Rhyan Barfoot (07) hails from Nanaimo where she played most of her youth soccer. Last season for Chad Lintott’s Elite Xl Soccer Academy, she scored seven goals and added four assists during the spring season. She also scored two goals with Shawn Fiddick’s Lakehill Premier Club. She’ll be suiting up with Nanaimo United in the Spring.

The Timberwolves secured her commitment during a recent trip to UNBC.

“The indoor soccer facility is amazing, but it was mostly all the great people I met on my visit,” said Barfoot. “They are all super nice and made me feel very welcome. They like to laugh and have fun off the pitch which helped me feel more at ease on my visit.”

“Rhyan is an exciting player with strong background in athletics and the highest level of competition. Now, with a focus on solely soccer, I see Rhyan developing quickly,” said Timberwolves Head Coach Neil Sedgwick. “Her character and drive will be great for the team and I believe she will be very impactful throughout her career at UNBC.”

As for her studies, Barfoot plans to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management.
