Ministry of Transportation redeploys staff following weigh scale fire

PRINCE GEORGE — More information has been released regarding a fire on Christmas Eve that destroyed the Red Rock weigh scale just south of Prince George on Highway 97.
The Ministry of Transportation says nobody was at the facility at the time of the incident. They also note that safety enforcement will continue with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement staff redeployed to mobile patrols at the weigh scales at Prince George North and Vanderhoof.
Twenty-four firefighters from Red Rock, Pineview, Buckhorn and Ferndale/Tabor volunteer fire departments responded to the early morning blaze which was reported at 6:22 a.m.
Damages are estimated at 850,000. Still no word on the cause.
