PRINCE GEORGE — It’s shaping up to be a cold and snowy end to 2024 in the Prince George area.

Environment Canada says about 2 cm of snow is expected to fall Sunday (Dec. 29), with the snow expected to end around noon. The weather agency is then calling for a chance of flurries though the day Monday (Dec. 30), with cloudy skies expected on New Years Eve and New Years Day.

It’ll be cold as well according to the early long-range forecast, as Environment Canada is calling for overnight temperatures around -7 C Monday night dropping to -11 C on Dec. 31.

While those temperatures are considered normal for this time of year in Prince George, it’s expected to get colder to begin 2025.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of -8 C on Jan. 1, with temperatures expected to drop to a high of -15 C by Friday (Jan. 3). The weather agency also says there is the chance of flurries Wednesday night into Thursday (Jan 1 to Jan. 2), with periods of snow then expected on the Friday going into the first weekend of the new year.

Thursday’s (Jan. 2) overnight low is expected to be the lowest at -18 C, with -15 C expected on Friday.
