PRINCE GEORGE —Despite Wednesday’s freezing temperatures, organizers of the 24th annual Ness Lake Bible Camp Polar Bear Dip say the event was a big success.

A total of 178 ‘dippers’ braved temperatures that dropped below minus 15 degrees celsius to raise $35,151.80. The top fundraisers were a group from Fort George Baptist Church, who raised $12,151.65. Second place went to the Stofer and Boyko clan who raised $8,330, while third place went to Rob Watt, who raised $800.

“This is our largest dip with temperatures below zero for sure” said Isaac Kwitkoski who helped organize the event. “It was amazing to have 216 dippers last year but it was also +5C. Our community is incredible and does the hard thing when it’s put before them.”

Dippers came from as far away as Mexico, London England, New Hampshire, Greater Vancouver and Newfoundland.
