CARIBOO — A 22-year-old man is facing a manslaughter charge in connection with the suspicious death of a 26-year-old at a house near Nimpo Lake in the Cariboo.

The RCMP in nearby Anahim Lake say charges have been approved against Winston Tallio, who remains in custody pending his next court appearance on Feb. 4 at the Williams Lake Law Courts.

The charges come days after police were called to reports of a fight at a house near Nimpo Lake in the evening of Dec. 30, 2024. They say they arrived to find a 26-year-old man in medical distress after he was stabbed.

“EHS and police performed life saving measures, however the man succumbed to his injuries,” the RCMP said in a Dec. 31 statement. “A 22-year-old Nimpo Lake resident, known to the victim, was arrested without incident and is currently in custody.”
