CALGARY — A Prince George man is celebrating a $33,615 win at a World Series of Poker (WSOP) seniors event in Calgary.

Cal Johnson beat Carlos Alaniz of Vancouver at the WSOP Circuit at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Alainz walked away with $22,410 for his efforts.

There were 564 total entries at the senior’s event in Calgary, with more than $186,000 in prizes. All players sat down with $20,000 in chips and played 30-minute intervals for the whole day Saturday, Jan. 12.

Johnson’s win covers his $10,000 entry fee for the Tournament of Champions event in June in Las Vegas.
