KAMLOOPS — Josh Gillespie led the way with a double-double but the UNBC Timberwolves were beaten 79-65 by the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack in Kamloops Friday (Jan. 24).

Gillespie finished with 15 points and a game-leading 11 rebounds, while Evgeny Baukin had a team-high 21 points for UNBC, which dropped to 1-12 on the season.

The TWolves led 35-34 at half-time but the WolfPack pulled away with a dominant third quarter that saw them put up 23 points to UNBC’s six. While the fourth quarter was much closer, the TWolves couldn’t close the gap on the scoreboard, and dropped their fifth game in a row.

Earlier in the day, the UNBC women’s team beat the WolfPack 76-60 to improve to 4-9. They remain tied with UBCO for the fifth playoff spot in the Pacific Division.
