Fake bomb threat evacuates restaurant in the Hart
PRINCE GEORGE— On January 23, the Prince George RCMP responded to a bomb threat at a restaurant on the 6400-block of the Hart Highway just after 11:00 p.m.
Staff at the restaurant report that someone called the store, threatening to “blow the place up”. The building was then evacuated while police arrived and searched the area. Upon concluding their search, the officers determined there was nothing suspicious inside or outside the building.
“Through the ensuing investigation, police identified a 14-year-old Prince George resident as the caller. Investigators attended the youth’s home and spoke with him and his guardians, where the youth admitted to making the prank call. The youth is not known to police and this investigation will be getting referred to our Restorative Justice unit for resolution,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
Mounties are reminding everyone that making a false bomb threat is a indictable offense. If a person is found to be making false bomb threats they could be charged with Uttering Threats and/or Mischief.
