‘Sugarcane’, a documentary filmed in Williams Lake has earned a 2025 Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature. The documentary details a journey of discovery around the atrocities that occurred at the St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School. We caught up with Chief Willie Sellars from the Williams Lake First Nation who described the feeling of earning the nomination and being part of the documentary production process.
