Where to go when grieving a loved one?

Feb 4, 2025 | 6:55 PM

PRINCE GEORGE—Grief never comes when you expect it and can impact your overall emotional wellbeing. Whether you lost a loved one or managing your own end of life the Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS) has a wide variety of support groups.

All of the programs at the PGHPCS are free to join.

“When people are grieving, sometimes they withdraw,” explains Laurie de Croos, Community Programs Team Lead. “So, going out to a support group engages them with other people who are going through very similar things to them. And, they don’t feel so alone anymore.

Anyone can join them regardless of your reason for grieving.

“They are for basically anybody who’s had a death of some sort,” says de Croos. “It doesn’t matter when that death was, because grief happens at different times. We’re all unique individuals.”

If you want to join any program of their free programs, contact the PGHPCS at (250) 563-2551 to learn more.
