Spruce Kings win both games against Coquitlam to keep BCHL playoff hopes alive
PRINCE GEORGE — Kazumo Sasaki was the hero once again as the Prince George Spruce Kings continue to make a push for a BCHL playoff berth.
Sasaki scored twice as the Kings beat the Coquitlam 3-2 Saturday (Feb. 8) night, their second consecutive win against the Express this weekend.. The native of Nishitokyo, Japan was the overtime hero in the Kings 3-2 win on Friday.
Like they did on Friday night, the Express struck first at Kopar Memorial Arena Saturday, but the Kings found a way to score three goals unanswered once again.
Nick Metelkin equalized on the power play midway through the second period before Sasaki scored at 17:44 to make it a 2-1 game for Prince George. Sasaki scored his second at 4:06 of the third, to ensure that Mason Kesselring’s late goal amounted to nothing.
