UNBC basketball teams celebrate graduating seniors in final game of Canada West season

PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves wrapped up their Canada West regular season with a pair of defeats to the UBC Thunderbirds at Brownridge Court Saturday (Feb. 15) night.

The men’s fell 96-58 to the Thunderbirds on a night when they honoured Josh Gillespie. The graduating senior wrapped up his two-year tenure at UNBC with a 10-point, nine-rebound effort.

Isaiah Bias led the TWolves with 17 while Milan Pasquale netted a new career high of 15 points.

The UNBC men finished the season with a 1-19 record. Their lone win on the year came against the UBCO Heat in late November.

Over in women’s action, the TWolves were also beaten 79-53 by UBC in their regular season finale.

Soon to be graduate Sveta Boykova racked up a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds for the TWolves, who finished with a 4-16 record.

Saturday’s game was also the final in the Canada West careers of Sarah Kuklisin, Bella Mesquita and Adaiah Tupas-Singh. The four longstanding teammates left the floor together to a rousing ovation once the game was done.
