Golden – The Golden RCMP confirmed on Monday that a 42-year-old man from Golden, B.C., lost his life in an avalanche incident.

According to police, he and another individual had been backcountry skiing near Mount Kapristo, located southeast of Golden.

One of the men managed to return home and reported that his skiing companion had died due to the avalanche.

Despite attempts to save him, the man sadly succumbed to his injuries. To ensure his safety, the survivor had to leave his friend at the site of the accident.

With help from Search and Rescue teams and the assistance of a helicopter, they were eventually able to recover the deceased man’s body.
