PRINCE GEORGE — Two-time Prince George Citizen of the year winner Dick Voneugen has died.

The community advocate passed away Monday at the age of 92. Born in Holland and a Prince George resident since the 1960s, Dick was inducted into the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 as a builder and administrator but was involved in many community initiatives over the years including his role in founding the Outdoor Ice Oval Committee.

He also coordinated the first Terry Fox Run in Prince George and helped start the Prince George Roadrunners.

Dick is the one and only person to be awarded the distinction of the Prince George Citizen of the Year twice.
