PRINCE GEORGE – The Board of Governors for the College of New Caledonia made some tough decisions today around programming Friday afternoon (Feb.28).

With the loss of roughly $7 million due to declining enrolment of international students, the College cut three programs. The Community and School Support was cut unanimously, as was the Associate of Arts – Modern Classics, both due to declining enrolment. However, the Education Assistant Certificate has not been cancelled.

The most controversial cancellation was the English Language program. The college cited a decrease of 13 students in the program and the availability of other organizations, such as the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, to provide English language programs as the rationale.

The Vice-President of Student Affairs Shelley Carter-Rose assured students currently enrolled in the program will continue with their education.
