QUESNEL — The mayor of Quesnel, Ron Paull, has won his court case against the City of Quesnel related to censure and sanctions levelled against him last year.

City Council censured him after it learned Paull had taken a book that downplayed the devastating impacts of residential schools to a Cariboo Regional District board meeting.

At the time, Quesnel council talked about how Paull’s actions had damaged relationships with First Nations in the region. But a BC Supreme Court judge ruled that Council failed to follow the code of conduct requirement to provide the mayor with two-weeks notice.

The judge added that the mayor can seek reimbursement of his legal costs from the City.
