Lheidli T’enneh Territory — Regina Toth has announced her candidacy for chief of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.

A news release says she brings over 40 years of leadership, governance, and economic development experience to guide the Nation’s future.

Toth notes she’s dedicated her career to creating opportunities for Lheidli T’enneh members, with a focus on education, economic independence, and self-governance.

“Lheidli T’enneh stands at a turning point, with opportunities in land development, business growth, and self-governance. But opportunity alone is not enough. We need leadership that fights for fair deals, delivers real results, and ensures our Nation has not just a seat at the table, but a powerful voice. And that’s why I’m running,” she said.

Her platform focuses on:

  • Education and Training: Supporting youth to graduate and access meaningful careers.
  • Economic Growth: Building businesses we own and lead, creating full-time jobs.
  • Self-Governance: Empowering Lheidli T’enneh to control its future and protect its land and resources.
  • Affordable Housing: Ensuring fair and transparent processes for housing allocation.
  • Community Unity: Ending division and fostering cooperation among members.

Toth believes that true leadership is rooted in honesty, transparency, and a commitment to unity.

“We need leadership that listens to our people and works to build a stronger, more prosperous future for all members,” she said. “For too long, decisions about our land and future have been made by others. It’s time to take charge of our path forward. Together, we can build a thriving, independent community where every member has the opportunity to succeed.”

Toth will face incumbent Chief Dolleen Logan, who is seeking her third two-year term as chief.

Election day is scheduled for April 9.
