Man faces several charges following alleged assault and arson
BURNS LAKE — A 32-year-old man from Southbank is in police custody and facing several charges in relation to an alleged assault and arson that occurred Thursday morning (March 20).
Burns Lake RCMP say at approximately 1:30 a.m. that day, they responded to a report that a man had been struck by a vehicle in Southbank. The man apparently suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The victim’s residence was later discovered to be engulfed in flames.
Police located the suspect at his home, and took him into custody without incident.
“All indications point to this being a targeted and isolated incident”, said Staff Sergeant Joshua Smith, Burns Lake RCMP Detachment Commander. “There is no ongoing risk to public safety at this time.”
