Two-vehicle MVI closes Highway 97 north of Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Update (3:45 p.m.): RCMP have confirmed one person was killed in Monday morning’s crash on Highway 97 near Summit Lake Road, approximately 50 kilometres north of Prince George.

Police say a vehicle crossed the centre line and collided with a logging truck, killing one person.

Update (3:05 p.m.): The highway has fully reopened.

Update (2:05 p.m.) According to Drive BC, Highway 97 has reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.

Earlier: RCMP say a two-vehicle crash about 50 kilometres north of Prince George has closed Highway 97 in both directions.

Drive BC says a detour is available with an estimated reopening time of 7 p.m. Monday night. Police note however that the detour may not be suitable for large trucks.

RCMP say emergency services are currently on scene with no word on the cause or of any injuries.
