PRINCE GEORGE— After the Cougars final game of the 2024-25 regular season this past Saturday (Mar. 22), they wrapped up the night honouring the players that played their final regular season WHL game, with the selection of the three stars.

The three stars of game 68 against the Royals, were Borya Valis, Villiam Kmec and Koehn Ziemmer.

While Valis has had a big impact with the organization since coming over from the Regina Pats last season, both Kmec and Ziemmer have spent their entire WHL careers in Prince George and have played a big part in turning the organization around.

“Ziemmer and Kmec are such a huge part of the build and such a huge part of where this team is at right now. You can’t say enough about both of them in different positions and what they’ve really done for this organization,” said Cougars General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb.

Fittingly, Kmec set up Ziemmer for the overtime winning goal in their final regular season game wearing a Cougars uniform.

“It was awesome. Me and Ziems (Koehn Ziemmer) have been playing together for the last four years, so it was special to have that connection on the last goal,” said Kmec.

As the Slovakian defenseman prepares for his final playoff run in Prince George, he reflected on his time with the team from coming here as a 17-year-old, to leaving as one of the highest scoring defensemen in franchise history.

“I really grew as a player this past four years. A big thanks to the coaches and the organization for helping me with that and I don’t think I would be there (moving onto professional hockey) if it wasn’t for them,” said Kmec.
