PRINCE GEORGE — Dignitaries will gather at the Prince George Civic Centre this week for the annual BC Council of Forest Industries (COFI) Convention.

More than 600 attendees are expected, including industry officials, government and Indigenous representatives, and labour leaders.

“The convention will focus on how the sector can respond to rising US tariffs, global trade uncertainty and regulatory complexity,” states a news release. “Discussions will center on strategies to improve industry competitiveness, enhance wood supply, strengthen partnerships with First Nations and sustain local jobs, while positioning BC as a global leader in sustainable forestry.”

The convention kicks off Thursday (April 3) with a series of panelists and speakers, including BC Opposition Conservative Leader John Rustad. Premier David Eby and Forests Minister Ravi Parmar have speeches scheduled on Friday.
