NDP’s Cory “Grizz” Longley looks to unseat longtime incumbent

DAWSON CREEK— “I’m doing this for my kids.”

The words of Cory “Grizz” Longley, when asked why he’s taking another run for federal office in the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies riding. In the 2021 federal election, Longley finished a distant second to four-time incumbent Bob Zimmer, who garnered close to 61 per cent of the vote in a riding that’s voted Conservative since 1972.

“I’m doing this because I have children. I’m doing this because I believe in our community and I believe we can do better.”

The former radio jock turned plumber was given the nickname “Grizz” while hosting the morning show on The Bear in Fort St. John back in 2007 and says the stakes in 2025 have never been higher.

“This election is important, all elections are important but this election even more so. We’re talking elbows up here, we’re talking about being proud to be Canadian, we’re talking about making it work for all of us here.”

And he says he’s the right guy for the job.

“I’m the guy that will stand up for the ridings interest. I’m the guy who wants your teeth to stay in your mouth, who wants our seniors to be able to afford their medications.”

Longley lives in Dawson Creek and was voted citizen of the year in 2007 for his compassionate fundraising.
