Spruce Kings take advantage of home ice

PRINCE GEORGE— The Spruce Kings surprised many by even making the playoffs, doing so on the final day of the regular season, but they aren’t satisfied just being participants in the postseason.

After they dropped Games 1 and 2 of their first round series, they clawed back two wins against the Coastal Conference’s top seeded Chilliwack Chiefs in Games 3 and 4 on home ice.

“It definitely helps playing here at home. We’ve got a loud crowd and smaller rink. They’re not really used to it, so that’s definitely a big key,” said Spruce Kings Captain, Linden Makow.

Another massive key to the teams success has been their resiliency, being able to perform their best with their backs against the wall.

“With this group it’s just remembering what’s helped us have success as of late and that’s just never quit… This team right now is just riding with a lot of success and mentally we’re dialed in, so we’re just going to stick with that,” said Kings Associate Coach, Taylor Harnett.

The Spruce Kings are now in Chilliwack preparing for Game 5 that can either send them back to Prince George a win away from advancing or with their season on the line once again. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. on Friday (Apr. 11) at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
