IIO investigating injuries sustained during an arrest on April 9

PRINCE GEORGE — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a man in Prince George on April 9, 2025.

In a press release, the IIO says that “information from the RCMP states that shortly before midnight, police were called to a residential building on the 1500-block Victoria Street about an intoxicated man who was staying there and who may have been in possession of a weapon.”

“Officers arrived and located the man on the hotel’s property, outside one of the rooms, and moved to arrest him. During the arrest, the man suffered injuries. He was taken to the hospital where it was determined he may require surgery.”
