Moral issues top of mind for Christian Heritage Party candidate

PRINCE GEORGE — Up until about eight or nine weeks ago, Jake Wiens wasn’t even considering taking a stab at federal politics.
But that eventually changed, which begs the question, why?
“I would have thought you were crazy. It’s not on my bucket list, it’s nowhere. But I’m a reader, I’m a Lazy Boy theologian, a culture watcher. There’s so much stuff bubbling up and I wasn’t getting anywhere with my church people,” he told CKPG News.
“I’m past 70, so I’m over the hill so to speak so I wanted to share my views and I thought, why not the Christian Heritage Party?
Wiens says his top issues are abortion, kids in the classroom – including an end to sexual education in schools – including no “gender identity ideology”, and euthanasia – issues he says aren’t being addressed by Canada’s most popular parties.
“I consider the Liberal Party the little bandaid people – they want the bandaid to stick until after the election and then they’ll continue their globalist agenda.”
He calls the Conservative Party the “big bandaid people.”
“Definitely a better bandaid. They’ll solve some of the economic problems but it’s a bandaid because they’re not addressing the moral issues that are at the heart of this country.”
It’s the retired teacher’s first run at politics. He’s running in the Cariboo-Prince George riding against incumbent Conservative Todd Doherty, Liberal Clinton Emslie, Jodie Capling of the Green Party, Angie Bonazzo of the NDP, and Rudy Sans of the People’s Party of Canada.
Election day is scheduled for April 28.
