One killed, another injured following gas plant fire north of Fort St John
FORT ST JOHN — A gas plant fire north of Fort St John Monday evening killed one person and injured another.
Tourmaline Oil Corp. said there was a fire at its Gundy c-60 gas plant site approximately 150 kilometres north of Fort St John Monday night at 5:45 p.m. local time.
The company confirmed that a contractor worker was fatally injured and another was treated for injuries in hospital.
In a statement, Tourmaline said it “is working with the appropriate authorities to ensure a full investigation is conducted into the cause of the incident. The plant is undamaged and remains shut in during this investigation. Tourmaline’s primary focus remains on the safety and well-being of onsite personnel and mitigating risk to the environment.”
