Slower start to 2025 as City of PG issues $22.1 million worth of building permits between January and March

PRINCE GEORGE — New data from the City of Prince George shows a slower start to the year when it comes to building permits.

A staff report going before Wednesday’s (April 23) City Council meeting shows there were 21 total building permits issued in March, with a combined value of just over $6.9 million.

Most of the permits issued last month were for housing, as the City says there was one permit issued for a 91-unit multi-family development worth $3-million and five new permits issued for single-family developments worth a combined $2.63 million.

The report also shows that through the first three months of 2025, the City of Prince George had issued 74 building permits, worth a combined $22.1 million. in terms of value, it is about half of where things were during the same three month period in both 2023 and 2024

There were 104 permits worth $41.8 million issued in the first three months of 2024, and 61 permits worth $46.6 million in 2023. Most of 2023’s values were for industrial development, with seven permits issued worth a combined $28.9 million.
