5 injured in late Sunday morning crash on Highway 97 north of Williams Lake

WILLIAMS LAKE — A two-vehicle crash closed Highway 97 about 10 kilometres north of Wildwood Sunday morning.

North District RCMP say it occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. near Pinnell Road and involved a Jeep Cherokee and a Toyota RAV4.

Police say the Jeep Cherokee collided with an object and subsequently struck the Toyota. Two people in the Jeep suffered minor injuries while three occupants of the Toyota suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

The crash closed the highway for several hours to make way for an investigation though a detour was made available.
