Spirit Day 2025: meet Dr. Lavoie Lebel, responsible for a life-changing program at UHNBC

Pregnancy can be a stressful endeavour, even more so if you have to travel for specialized care. That is changing in Prince George thanks to Dr. Élise Lavoie Lebel, a Maternal Fetal Medicine Subspecialist. Thanks to Dr. Lavoie Lebel, expecting mothers who experience fetal abnormalities can now receive diagnostic procedures previously not available outside of larger centres in the province. This year Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation is raising funds for a brand new, state of the art ultrasound machine that can run these diagnostic procedures. We caught up with Dr. Lavoie Lebel to learn more about this life-changing advancement in the north.
