Year-over-year unemployment rate in Prince George rises
PRINCE GEORGE — 6.4 per cent.
That was the unemployment rate in Prince George in April, up from 5.2 per cent a year ago.
Statistics Canada says there were slight gains in the natural resources sector and declines in wholesale and retail trade.
Provincially, the unemployment rate was 6.2 per cent, up .1 per cent from March. There was a tiny gain of 6,000 jobs province-wide. A loss in part-time jobs was offset by gains in full-time employment.
