New details emerge in missing woman case

QUESNEL – RCMP have learned new information regarding the missing woman case of Alice Chingee.

Originally reported missing on July 18, 2024, an RCMP press release says that Chingee was last seen in Quesnel, as she was dropped off south of town on Sales Road and reportedly planned to hitchhike to Vancouver.

“This is believed to have happened in mid-July 2024. Possibly between July 15-18. She was last seen wearing a purple sweater and carrying a large bag,” the release said.

For Chingee’s family, any update could be seen as good news, as it could possibly lead to finding her, but it has also been an incredibly difficult time as it has been nearly a year since she was reported missing.

“I was able to keep my composure and be strong, but the day I received the news from my cousin I was very emotional, I had to leave work early,” said Crystal Connors, Chingee’s daughter.

“It’s good to get updated news, because before the only news that was made known about her was the original post of her last being seen leaving the community,” Connors continued.

This new update has cancelled a search plan in the McLeod Lake region, but Connors expects a new search to be planned in the near future.

“There will definitely be future searches. I don’t know when, but I’m glad that with this recent update that we’re not searching in the wrong place,” Connors said.
