IIO investigating taser incident involving an officer
PRINCE GEORGE — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating an incident that took place in April 2025.
At about 5:20 p.m. on April 25, 2025, police responded to a reported disturbance caused by a man shouting and behaving erratically in a parking lot in the 100 block of George Street.
When officers arrived, they found a man matching the description provided by the caller in a nearby parking lot in the 100 block of Queensway. Multiple officers responded and took the man into custody. A Taser was used during the arrest, and the man was taken to the RCMP detachment cells.
Paramedics were called to assess the man as he was believed to be in a state of psychosis. He was transported to a hospital where he was found to be suffering from a serious medical condition.
