PRINCE GEORGE — Hockey fans braved the rain Thursday night to cheer on Canada’s team on a very big screen and more importantly raise funds for an important cause

Vendors lined up around Pacific Western Brewing ready to offer up comfort food, raffles, games and of course beer to the many fans who came out despite heavy rainfall in support of Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society. And even though the rain may have been a bit of a damper, there was certainly a silver lining to be had.

“Well, you know what? A little bit disappointed about the rain. But you know what? We’re keeping those fires at bay, which is a huge thing for Prince George right now. So we should be thankful for that. You know, the right people are here because we’ve now moved inside into the beautiful Pacific Western Brewery, tasting room. So we’re still watching the game. We’re still doing to beer. We’re still having fun. And unbelievable support to hospice care, which is what’s really important,” said Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society Executive Director Donna Flood.

Fans in attendance were moved inside the brewery when power was momentarily cut off due to thunderstorms but that didnt stop the the excitement and the dollars from rolling in for this great cause.

“So again, you know, the rain never hurt anyone. We’re out here. We’re having fun. We’re here in our Canadian team and hoping for maybe a little bit better weather on Saturday,” added Flood.

With much better weather expected Saturday there is a second chance to watch Canada’s team on that big screen in addition to a live performance from the Chris Goodwin Band starting at 3:30 p.m. with all proceeds again going to the Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society.
