PRINCE GEORGE – A heartfelt new initiative is set to launch in Prince George, aiming to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals living with early-stage dementia, as well as their care partners.

Prince George Hospice Palliative Care is on a mission to find volunteers to build partnerships with individuals living with early-stage dementia.

“The volunteer we’re looking for is empathetic, wants to have that personal connection, is committed and agile to meet the needs of this person. It’s almost like developing a friendship with someone.”

Donna Flood

Executive Director, Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society

The Connecting Minds Through Compassionate Hearts Program seeks to rekindle a sense of belonging, dignity, and purpose for individuals facing the challenges of early dementia.

Volunteers will receive training and ongoing support throughout their time as companions. This program is designed to assist not only individuals living with dementia but also the caregivers who support them.
